Myers Briggs type indicator

My previous Myers Briggs post wasn’t thorough enough.
The Myers Briggs type indicator was designed to put logic to what can be seen as strange personalities, this test is hard to beat so people can’t pretend in their interview.  The Myers Briggs test categorises the most common types, there are 16 distinctive personality types. (myersbriggs.org)
There is no best type, they are all equal (myersbriggs.org).  This test just gives an idea about the type of personality you have.
My result was ENTP, which is 10% of the population.
I looked into what this meant I was, in a Wikipedia search I found the Keirsey Temperaments which said I am a designer.  I found this through Wikipedia so I really can’t be sure how reliable this is.  I agree with it as I like to design and I hope to have a career in designing.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator

From what I understand, this test is about personality and how people perceive the world.

I come out as ENTP which is 10%, according to Keirsey Temperaments I'm a designer which apparently is closely linked with the Myers Briggs.

Vark reflection

From what i understand of the VARK system it sets up a model of how you learn.
My result is strong in visual learning, average in listening and not so good in either touchy/ feely or read/ write.

I find I learn well from diagrams and pictures, I find learning by listening difficult as it goes in one ear and out the other.  I'm not a touchy feely person and find this form of learning OK but different, probably second best to the others.  With my dyslexia i struggle with reading and writing.

I think this task is quite accurate, as you  said its only a model so wont be perfect but i thought it wasn't far out for me.

SWOT analysis

Strengths:
I am passionate about becoming a mechanical engineer; I have never wanted to be anything else.
I have lots of the hands on skills which just like in maths, you need to know how to do the basic calculations rather than just plugging into the calculator.  I am restoring a Land Rover, this is showing me so many theories by looking and handling the components, then modifying or fabricating my own.
I have done work experience at Ford a few summers ago, in the test labs watching a few components being tested.
I have worked on a farm for the past few summers, the large equipment really interests me... what it can do and how much thought must have gone into their design.

Weaknesses:
I am can be single minded, for example a have had difficulty changing how I put my ideas down in coursework... I like to design in my head, and then just develop that one design.  The course work wanted me to show the thinking i had already done in my head.  I am a lot better at this now, but I think I may need to keep a watch out.
I am dyslexic, because of this I have limitations on the way I learn.  I may have to go few times before I understand; I struggle to learn from reading textbooks.  I learn better if it’s explained to me then i do worked examples.
Because imp practically minded i struggle to understand why i would need to know about certain theories.  When i know why and where you would use these theories in real life i can see the reasons for learning it.

Opportunities:
I think university life will be a lot closer to what happens in the real world.  In university it’s up to me about putting the effort in to get the self-study done and my assignments in on time.  This is what an employer would expect of me, they won’t hold my hand every step of the way.
I may find links for work experience which could lead to a job after graduation.

Threats:
I worry that as imp dyslexic and it may take me longer to revise or to self-study or to do my coursework and i will feel inundated with work and find I’m struggling to keep going or to do anything outside university.

first post...

Hi, my name is Alex.  I have never blogged before... so not really sure what you’re supposed to put!

A little bit about me... I'm 18, straight from 6th form.  I studied maths- mechanics, physics and design technology.  I have always been mechanically minded... I'm a Land Rover enthusiast and have my own which i trial on a regular basis.  I have done work experience at Ford in the test labs a few summers ago,  seeing a few components being put through its paces was very interesting.
I work on a farm in the summer; this is very intensive work in a short time span.  Team work is key, I enjoy using the large equipment and it always surprises me how unreliable it appears to be!  This makes me wonder if it’s the designer at fault or if it’s the operator's fault through sloppy maintenance or misuse.  The majority of the time the farmers say... they haven’t designed it for us to use.

I have enjoyed my first few days of University, the modules look good.  I am pleased that the lecturers are recapping on subjects that I may be rusty on.  So all in all I think I could do well here!

I hope this is along the lines of what a blog is supposed to be.
